Meeting 8: Summary

We welcomed several new CCT members and thanked others going off the CCT for their excellent service. Paula presented a report from the CEHSP UCT: completed an environmental scan, inventorying teaching, research and service activities, and current and potential partnerships, Velcro-Connect student mentoring program to improve retention, development of U-Tube videos of what equity, diversity, social justice, and multiculturalism mean to you. The CCT reviewed a draft of CCT activities and actions. LSBE and SOM are interested in assessing their unit climate. The CCT discussed the racist and hateful chants at the February 10-11 men’s UMD-UND hockey games. Bilin will send an email from the CCT to the Leadership Team expressing its strong consensus that the Leadership Team needs to be aware of the chants, respond to them, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
