Dennis R. Falk
Faculty Fellow for Strategic Planning
Dennis (Denny) Falk is serving as a Faculty Fellow for Strategic Planning through June, 2012. In this role he is working with Chancellor Black and the Strategic Planning Steering Committee to design and implement the strategic planning process.
Dr. Falk is a Professor in the Department of Social Work and has worked with social work programs at UMD for over 33 years. He served as Director of Graduate Studies in the Masters of Social Work Program for 15 years, as Acting Department Head for two years, and as the founding Director of the UMD Center for Regional and Tribal Child Welfare Studies. Dr. Falk teaches courses on social work research, human behavior, and global issues, and received the University-Wide Award for Outstanding Contributions for Graduate, Professional, and Post-Baccalaureate Education in 2006.
Dr. Falk’s current research interests focus on educating globally competent citizens, and he recently co-edited a book on this subject through the Center for Strategic and International Studies. His university service includes serving on numerous college, campus, and university committees, with current membership on the Executive Committee of Academy of Distinguished Teachers and on the UMD Budget Committee. He taught on the UMD Study in England Program three times, serving one year as director, and is currently a Program Associate with the Alworth Institute for International Studies.
