Why create a Portfolio?
As a student in the Department of Chemical Engineering, you not only learn the subject material necessary for graduation but also obtain the skills that will ensure your future success. In compiling a portfolio, you can track your own development through your educational career and beyond. By the time your graduate , you will have put together a body of work that represents your entire educational experience. Though Portfolio was designed for the your college years, it can be accessed beyond graduation and may be used to compile work experiences, resumes, graduate education and other artifacts important to your career. The sky (and storage space) is the limit!
What is Portfolio is meant to assess?
During your years as a ChE Student, you will gain knowledge and experience to help you succed as an engineer. As you progress through your education, you will generate many artifacts representing the work you have accomplished. These artifacts may be design projects, reports, presentations, co-op and research experience, etc. Your portfolio can be used to store these artifacts as well as provide a place to reflect on your own learning and assess your own growth. Your Portfolio will be used by your Advisor to track your progress through the program and assess your development. Additionally, the accumulated Portfolios will be used by the Department for accreditation purposes and to assess the program's effectiveness in order to maintain a high level of teaching to ensure the success of future students.
