The Chemistry Building
The Chemistry Building is the original building on the UMD campus. It is a three and one-half story building containing 53,000 square feet. A $1.8 million dollar renovation of its research laboratories was completed in 1998.
The Chemistry Building houses the department office, faculty offices, four teaching laboratories, eight research laboratories, and laboratory support rooms. Several major instruments are located in the Chemistry Building, including a 300MHz NMR, 500MHz NMR, X–ray Diffractometer, GC–MS, LC–MS and several spectrometers (EPR, UV–VIS, FTIR). The building has three small classrooms and two large lecture halls. It includes instructional labs for quantitative analysis, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and instrumental analysis.
