Program Objectives
The Civil Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth has the following program objectives:
- Problem solving as an individual or team contributor based on fundamental technical skills in math, science, engineering mechanics, analysis, design, and hands-on experimentation. Professional skills of management, business, public policy, and leadership, ethical responsibility, oral and written communication, and the importance of continuing education for evolving engineering tools and professional licensure.
- Understanding the role of sustainability, including the global and contemporary issues in engineering.
- Breadth of knowledge in the areas of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources engineering; depth of knowledge in at least one of the four areas.
