Barr Engineering in Duluth is looking for a geotechnical intern. The person selected for this internship may assist with a variety of projects, including basic engineering computation, AutoCAD drafting, field data collection, site survey, documentation, computer analysis, assisting in the design of solutions, and monitoring construction projects.

Summer Research Opportunity in Iron Range

Dates: Summer 2015

The Minnesota DNR, Division of Lands and Minerals, is in the process of building a pool of applicants for a temporary position as a chemist aide.  This person will assist the state full time over the summer months in the conduction of field and laboratory research studies on Minnesota’s Iron Range. These studies combine geochemical and hydrologic principles and data to help the state evaluate contaminant sources and environmental impacts of active and proposed mines in northeastern Minnesota. The person will be stationed initially in Hibbing, Minnesota, for the summer months, where they will assist with the collection of water and mine waste solids from active sites on the Iron Range and subsequently with the processing of samples and conduction of experiments in the DNR’s minerals research facility. Possibility for continued part- to full-time employment beyond the summer exists where the hired applicant would assist with data entry, report preparation, and core processing based in either Hibbing or St. Paul.

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Summer Internship Program for Undergraduates

Dates: May 28th - August 4th, 2015

Deadline: Open until filled.

 

The Lamont-Doherty Summer Intern Program offers the chance to experience scientific research as an undergraduate. The program is open to US citizens or permanent residents who have completed their junior or sophomore year in college with majors in earth science, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, or engineering. Neither graduating seniors nor international students are eligible for this internship. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.

City of South St. Paul Engineering Internship

Interns will assume an administrative and engineering role that involves performing duties and responsibilities commonly assigned to entry-level engineering employees. The intern will work on a variety of projects that impact the engineering opperations.

Cook County Summer Intern

Dates: Summer 2015

Deadline: Open until filled

 

The Cook County Highway Department in picturesque Grand Marais, MN has two summer engineering intern positions open for 2015. The position(s) will be engaged in construction observation, construction materials testing, construction staking, and design surveying. Applicants should have completed at least one year of Civil Engineering, Civil Technician, or Surveying classes by the summer of 2015. These are temporary, full-time positions with overtime paid over 40 hours per week. Salary range is $13.67 to $16.05 per hour, depending on education and experience.

City of Cloquet Summer Internship

The City of Cloquet, MN is currently accepting applications for a Student Engineering Intern in the Public Works Department-Engineering Division. This would be a temporary full time summer position. Under the direction of the City Engineer, this person would participate in the day to day operations of the Public Works Department-Engineering Division, by providing technical assistance with the planning, design and construction of various street and utility improvements, as well as operations.
