Welcome Graduate Students!
I am pleased that you have chosen CLA for your graduate education. You are entering one of our three outstanding graduate programs, and each one of them offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself into an intellectual tradition and prepare for a new career.
The College of Liberal Arts offers Masters degrees in three areas: Advocacy and Political Leadership (MAPL), Criminology (MA), and English (MA). The college also offers a Graduate Minor in Linguistics.
Graduate school is a wondrous opportunity, a time for exploration, challenge, analysis, and synthesis. Regardless of which program you might choose, you will be asked to read, to write, to think, and to act. Each program will provide you with the opportunity to work one-on-one with a major professor or advisor, and to involve yourself in scholarly endeavors while simultaneously confronting real-world, practical issues.
As you learn about the possibilities of transforming the world during the course of your graduate studies, you will also learn about who you are as a person in this modern world. Graduate school is an experience you will carry with you all of your life.
Best,
Olaf Kuhlke
Interim Dean, College of Liberal Arts
