Center for Ethics and Public Policy Book Prize

The Center for Ethics and Public Policy is proud to sponsor an essay contest which will award $250 (in textbook reimbursement) to the winner. The essay should be on a topic that is under the purview of the Center's mission -- ethics and/or public policy (e.g., proportional representation, animal rights, amnesty for illegal immigrants, euthanasia, energy policy, etc.).
Kristin is from Oakdale, Minnesota. She is a senior at UMD, majoring in Biology with a minor in Philosophy. After graduation, Kristin intends to go to medical school. She wants to specialize in either pediatrics or obstetrics. She is involved in intramural sports (softball, broomball, soccer), the pre-med club, and University Christian Fellowship. She is also an undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Julie Etterson in the Biology Department and will have her own UROP this summer.

Alethea is a Philosophy/English double major. She will graduate from UMD in the spring of 2013. Upon graduation, she plans to teach English in France for a year.

The Ehlers Book Award provides textbooks needed for philosophy courses taken by the recipients over the following year. Awards are made to continuing philosophy students based on their grades in philosophy courses.
Byron is pursuing majors in Philosophy and Psychology as well as a minor in Music.
Brandon is pursuing a BA degree with majors in both Philosophy and Spanish.
Bryan is from Owatonna, Minnesota, and pursuing majors in Philosophy and Biology. After graduating from UMD he would like to attend Biola University in California to pursue an MA in Philosophy and Theology.
Chloe is pursuing a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Art.
