College of Liberal Arts and UMD Awards:
CLA Research Committee Awards
This award is conferred to one tenure-track and one tenured faculty member of the College on the basis of the quality and quantity of their publications released in the previous year.
CLA Teaching Committee Awards
This award is given to CLA faculty who demonstrate superior organization of course materials, who communicate effectively, who show enthusiasm for and outstanding knowledge of their subject and who demonstrate a respectful attitude toward their students, fairness and flexibility, as well as successful student outcomes.
Chancellor's Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award
This award is given each year to one faculty member from each college for advising excellence and outstanding service to their students.
UMD Outstanding Service Awards
This award is designed to recognize non-faculty employees who have consistently performed their on-going responsibilities in a superior to outstanding manner and have significantly enhanced departmental, collegiate, or campus goals and objectives.
UMD Student Awards: Outstanding Faculty
This award is given to a member of the faculty who has displayed outstanding abilities in the realm of teaching and instruction, calling attention to contributions to the UMD community, to the educational advancement of students, and to the general pursuit of knowledge by all.
UMD Student Awards: Outstanding Staff
This award is given to a non-student, non-faculty employee of the university (P&A, Civil Service, AFSCME or Teamster) who has demonstrated support and concern for the well-being of students and the University. This individual has gone above and beyond requirements to aid students.
UMD Student Awards: Outstanding Academic Adviser
This award is given to an academic adviser who has gone above and beyond his/her requirements as an academic adviser. The winner has displayed a genuine concern for the well-being of the students advised.
UMD Student Awards: Outstanding Adviser to a Student Organization
This award is given to the adviser who has gone above and beyond requirements as an adviser to a student organization, and who has displayed a genuine commitment to fostering the growth and development of the student organization in the past academic year.
University of Minnesota Awards:
Distinguished McKnight University Professorship
The goal of the Distinguished McKnight University Professorship program is to honor and reward the University's highest-achieving faculty who recently have attained full professor status -- especially those who have made significant advances in their careers at the University of Minnesota, whose work and reputation are identified with the University, who bring renown and prestige to Minnesota, and who can be expected to make additional significant contributions to their discipline in the future.
McKnight Land-Grant Professorship
The goal of the McKnight Land-Grant Professorship is to advance the careers of new assistant professors at a crucial point in their professional lives. The designation of "McKnight Land-Grant Professor" is held by recipients for a two-year period.
Horace T. Morse - U of M Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education
Each year since 1965, the Morse Alumni Award has been given to a select group of teachers who reflect the University's emphasis on the importance of high quality undergraduate education.
John Tate Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising
The Tate Awards serve to recognize and reward high-quality academic advising. They call attention to the contribution academic advising makes to helping students formulate and achieve intellectual, career, and personal goals.
Award for Outstanding Contributions to Postbaccalaureate, Graduate, and Professional Education
Recipients are chosen for excellence in instruction; involvement in students' research, scholarship, and professional development; development of instructional programs; and advising and mentoring of students.
Oustanding Community Service Award
Outstanding Community Service Awards recognize faculty, staff, students, and University-affiliated community partners who, by devoting their time, talents, and expertise to serve the public good, have made significant, demonstrable, and direct contributions to society's well-being.
President's Award for Outstanding Service
This award recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments and service units by any active or retired member of the faculty or staff. Such service must have gone well beyond the regular duties of a faculty or a staff member, and demonstrate unusual commitment to the University community.
