UMD & CLA Awards

CLA Research Committee Awards - This award is conferred to one tenure-track and one tenured faculty member of the College on the basis of the quality and quantity of their publications released in the year 2003.

CLA Teaching Committee Awards - This award is given to faculty who demonstrate superior organization of course materials, who communicate effectively, who show enthusiasm for and outstanding knowledge of their subject and who demonstrate a respectful attitude toward their students, fairness and flexibility, as well as successful student outcomes.

Outstanding Service Awards - This award is designed to recognize employees who have consistently performed their on-going responsibilities in a superior to outstanding manner and have significantly enhanced departmental, collegiate, or campus goals and objectives. www.d.umn.edu/umdhr/OSA

Chancellor’s Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award - This award is given each year to one faculty member from each college for advising excellence and outstanding service to their students.

Outstanding Faculty Award - This award is presented to one faculty member each year who shows outstanding service to the UMD Community. www.d.umn.edu/student/recog/award/faculty.html

Outstanding Staff Award – This award is given to any non-student, non-faculty employee of the University: administrative, professional, clerical, or maintenance, who has displayed a genuine concern for the well-being of students and University. Advisor to a Student Organization Award - This award is given to the advisor who has gone above and beyond his/her requirements as an advisor and has displayed a genuine commitment to fostering the growth and development of the student organization. www.d.umn.edu/student/recog/award/advisor.html

System-Wide Awards

Distinguished McKnight Professorship Program - The goal of the Distinguished McKnight University Professorship program is to honor and reward the University's highest-achieving faculty who recently have attained full professor status-especially those whose careers have advanced at Minnesota, whose work and reputation are identified with Minnesota, who bring renown and prestige to the University, and who can be expected to make additional significant contributions to their discipline in the future.

President’s Award for Outstanding Service - This award recognizes exceptional service to the University, its schools, colleges, departments and service units by any active or retired member of the faculty or staff. Such service must have gone well beyond the regular duties of a faculty or a staff member, and demonstrate unusual commitment to the University community.
