Personal Statement:
My background is in health care. I worked as a registered nurse in civilian and military medical settings, including hospice, mental health, emergency response and public health. Health and wellness issues and how we talk about them continue to be an area of interest for me. Nonverbal aspects of communication continue to be a strong area of study. When I am not teaching, I spend time reading, writing, gardening and most of all enjoying time with my wife and family.
