Personal Statement:
While I currently hold a full-time assistant professorship at the College of St. Scholastica (fall 2009), I enjoy returning to UMD to teach public relations. I love Duluth and am grateful for the opportunity to return for both career and family. I spend my free time with my son (Hayden) and husband (Andy) at our family cabin(s), on the lake walk, playing, or hiking. I love to read and enjoy the outdoors.

My research is varied, but focuses mainly on finding ways to effectively communicate about risk and in times of crisis. More specifically, I aim to understand organizational implications of risk and crisis communication as well as implications of risk and crisis communication for non-dominant or minority populations. A second line of research centers around work-family tensions and organizational efforts and programs aimed to
mitigate these tensions.
