UMD holds a commencement ceremony in the spring only. Any student who has completed course work to receive a degree for the 2019 - 2020 academic year is eligible to participate in the ceremony. Additionally, 2020 fall semester graduates may participate in the 2020 spring ceremony or the 2021 spring ceremony.
RSVP to Commencement
Applying to graduate DOES NOT automatically RSVP you to participate in commencement.
In addition to applying, you must also complete the Commencement Questionnaire where you will RSVP and confirm you will be in attendance, tell us how to pronounce your name and tell us if YOU need special assistance.
If you missed the deadline to RSVP to Commencement and you are an undergraduate student, contact firstname.lastname@example.org; if you are a graduate student contact email@example.com.
UMD uses an option called NameCoach. This system allows you to record your name to help ensure our commencement name readers, Dr. Brown, Dr. Erwin and Dr. Smyth, have an opportunity to listen to you say your name and help them pronounce it correctly on commencement day. Students who have sent in their RSVP to attend commencement will be receiving an email with an invitation and link to record their name. If you have not received an email by late April, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
