Do you see yourself in one of the "10 best jobs" (according to CareerCast, 2011)?

Do you want opportunities to study and research closely with outstanding Computer Science faculty?

Computer science majors had the highest job offer rate nationwide in 2011 — there has been no shortage of jobs even during our recent economic downturn. UMD's Dept. of Computer Science has 2 majors; Bachelor of Computer Information Systems and Bachelor of Computer Science. A graduate degree — Master of Science in Computer Science — is also offered.

Most of UMD's Computer Science graduates choose to stay in Minnesota, many stay here in Duluth.

There is projected to be several times more job openings than new computer professionals nationwide in the next decade. Computing professionals also rank high in terms of yearly pay (source: 2011, Georgetown University) among all professions.

Check us out! Email (cs@d.umn.edu) or call (218-726-7607) to hear more about how you fit at UMD's Computer Science programs.

The Bachelor of Science program with a major in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700. ABET is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

The mission of the Department of Computer Science is four-fold:

  • To conduct scholarly research.
  • To provide an instructional environment that leads to careers and research in computer science and information systems.
  • To contribute to the liberal education mission of the University.
  • To serve the community, state, region, and the profession.
