Professional regulations and requirements vary between
states. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the regulations of the state in
which you plan to practice, as these regulations may influence the elective
courses you choose to take.
Licensure across the United States
Minnesota Licensure
- In Minnesota, speech-language pathologists and are required
to hold separate licenses for education settings and for health care settings.
- Speech-language pathologists and audiologists practicing in
school settings must apply for licensure through the Minnesota Department of Education.
- Speech-language pathologists and audiologists practicing in
health care settings must apply for licensure through the Minnesota Department of Health.
- To maintain licensure, professionals must pay fees and
submit proof on continuing education as required by the licensing organization.
Exit Meetings
- In your final semester of graduate school, the Department
will conduct Exit Requirement Meetings to provide you with additional
information and resources as you prepare to apply for your professional license
after graduation.
