Do you have questions about how to use the UMD logo? Did you know there is no hyphen or comma in the name University of Minnesota Duluth? Are you interested in the University's recommended typefonts? All of the information is on the web. Go to http://www.d.umn.edu/publications/ to check it out. Questions? Contact Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu or call 726-8996.

It is time to update the UMD Faculty and Staff Experts List on-line at: http://www.d.umn.edu/currents/experts/. Faculty and staff who wish to be included should submit the following information: name, title, work phone, work address, home phone (optional), e-mail address, web address (optional), and three to nine topic descriptors to Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu. Included faculty and staff should review their listing and submit any changes to Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu. Changes and submissions will be accepted until Thursday, October 25. Departments are asked to review the list for faculty and staff who are no longer at UMD.

The UMD Communicators Council is once again conducting a Communication Audit. They are assembling UMD's printed promotional materials, advertising and web pages for review. They want to include department and collegiate unit newsletters and materials in this process. They are also looking for phrases that identify UMD. It is important for UMD to continually review the image it portrays to the outside community. All departments are asked to: 1) submit your materials and suggestions and 2) come to the review session.
To participate, bring copies of department newsletters, posters, flyers, brochures, web pages, and other printed materials between 2:30 and 4:30 pm on Thursday, October 25, to 351 Kirby. If you are unable to bring your materials that day, you can drop them off in 315 Darland Administration Building. The materials will be available for review in the Kirby Ballroom between 11 am and 3 pm on Friday, October 26. A reception will be held in conjunction with the review at 1:30 pm. The group is inviting all members of the UMD campus and community representatives (alumni and advertising professionals) to tell us what works and what areas need attention. Please contact Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu, 726 8996, with the number of pieces for the audit and who will attend the reception.

Many UMD faculty and staff are choosing to read Currents on the web instead of receiving a paper copy. An e-mail reminder is sent to umd.business.announce@d.umn.edu on the publication date of each issue. The paper copies of currents go to each department. If you want to read on the Web instead of on paper, contact your department office to reduce the number of Currents sent. Thanks!
