Jim Belote and Linda Belote, Department
of Sociology-Anthropology, presented a paper entitled What are 1000
Saraguros Doing in Spain? in a session on Andean Migrations: From
Inca Mitmacuna to YANYs (Yo Amo Nuevo York) at the at the XXIV International
Congress of the Latin American Studies Association held in Dallas Texas
in March.

Mustafa alAbsi, associate professor, Department of Behavioral
Sciences, gave a presentation during the annual meeting of the American
Psychosomatic Medicine Society titled: Sex Differences in Effects
of Endogenous Opioid Blockade on Pain, Stress Hormones, and Blood Pressure.
Co-authors on this presentation were Deanna Ellestad, Lorentz Wittmers,
and John M. Streitz, Jr.
He also co-authored a presentation titled Effects of Hypertension,
Genetick Risk for Hypertension and Attension on Nociception and Pain
with Louisa Edwards, Christopher Ring, David McIntyre, Doug Carroll, from
the University of Birmingham (England) and Christopher France from Ohio
University.
