THE GRASS IS GREENER AT GLENSHEEN
In August, Home Depot made a special donation to Glensheen Historic Estate.
The Duluth branch of the Atlanta based home improvement retailer donated
two top-of-the line Toro lawnmowers to the historic Congdon Estate. Furthermore,
The Toro Company, headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, has agreed
to match Home Depots contribution and will donate two additional
lawnmowers to Glensheen. Home Depot Store Manager Dennis Anderson presented

September issue of Outside magazine. According to the editors, to make
the top 40 honor roll, a school must, Turn out smart grads with
top-notch academic credentials, have a healthy environment ethos, and

are cleaning up, you can bring pots to biology and leave them outside
the door to the greenhouse.
FREE DTA RIDES CONTINUE THROUGH 2006
UMD students, faculty and staff can count on free rides and improved bus
service on campus this fall. The U-Bus is not running this school year
but two new DTA routes have been introduced to provide direct service
to campus from Superior Street and Fourth Street. Direct service into
UMD from the Woodland neighborhood has also been introduced.
The new East Fourth Street - UMD - Woodland Route
follows the current East Fourth Street routing to 24th Avenue East and
continues to upper Woodland along Woodland Avenue with a regular stop
at UMD.
A new East Mainline - UMD route has been introduced
to replace services along East Superior Street to 24th Avenue East, once
provided by the U-Bus. This new route provides half-hour bus service throughout
the day between downtown and UMD. This route originates along the west
mainline and will enable UMD students and staff living in the Lincoln
Park and Spirit Valley areas to take one bus directly to UMD without transferring
downtown.
Weekday DTA services between Morley Heights and
UMD had been included as an extension of the new East Eighth Street -
UMD route, providing the three morning and three afternoon trips between
UMD and Morley Heights.
The #6 East Mainline, UMD route and the #12 - Kenwood
route will use the regular bus stop outside of Kirby Student Center on
Kirby Drive. Both the #11 East Eighth Street - UMD, Morley Heights route
and the #13 Woodland via East Fourth Street - UMD route will use the new
bus stop at the Darland Administration Building.
