CEHSP FACULTY REVIEW
Paul Deputy, Dean of the College of Education and Human Service Professions,
is currently being reviewed on his administrative performance. Surveys
will be sent out the first week of December, and focus groups are being
scheduled for the first half of December. If you would like a chance to

MASTERS STUDENT RECEIVES HONORS
Wendy Hieb, masters student in water resources, won the 2003 Hydrolab
IAGLR Award for best student poster at the 2003 International Association
for Great Lakes Research annual meeting in Chicago. Hiebs poster,
Identifying the Sources of Fecal Coliform Bacteria in Lake Superior
Watersheds and Nearshore Zone was chosen from 123 entries. She will
be presented a formal certificate at the 2004 conference in Waterloo,
Ontario.
Hiebs work has been supported by a grant from the Minnesota Sea
Grant Program to Randall Hicks, Mike Sadowsky, and Lucinda Johnson.

UMD OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
It is time again to nominate eligible civil service and academic professional
employees for Outstanding Service Awards. The date of the ceremony and
the deadline for nominations has been changed. All nomination forms must
be submitted by Monday, February 2, 2004 at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony
will be held on Tuesday, April 27 from 3 -5 p.m. in the Kirby Ballroom.

STUDENT WEB CONTEST 2004
Up to five $500 awards will be given for this years student web
contest. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the contest.
The project is to develop a Web site for an undergraduate course and/or
Web based materials for an undergraduate course. The deadline for submission
is Friday, January 30, 2004. Each student must have an identified faculty
or departmental sponsor.
