ADMAR SETS NEW RECORD
UMD students from the Advertising and Marketing (ADMAR) club participated
in the District 8 National Advertising Competition at the DECC on April
23. Presenters Peder Baukol, Laura Simon, Stephanie Peterson, Scott Melcher,
and Cory Vandenberghe received sixth place in the competition, the highest
finish for UMD at the competition.
WOMENS LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

CAMPUS CLEAN SWEEP
Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety invite you to
participate in the fourth annual Campus Clean Sweep May 17 -19.
Members of UMDs custodial, recycling, and customer service crews
will be ready to assist you with your cleaning needs. Services for the
Clean Sweep will consist of, office cleaning kits, extra recycling containers,
hazardous material disposal, equipment disposal, and extra trash runs.
Office cleaning kits and extra recycling bins can be reserved by e-mailing
Facilities Management at firstname.lastname@example.org. Arrangements for equipment
disposal (with ID tags) must be made through the Business Office at 726-8292.
Hazardous material removal must be handled through the Environmental Health

NEWS FROM UMD STORES
The UMD Stores final sale will be from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. through May 12
in the Kirby Student Center. Included in the sale will be electronics,
software and accessories, food, beverages, office, art and school supplies,
bargain books, imprinted clothing, gifts, greeting cards, and more!
Museum Store The Museum Store will have an end of the year sale through
FARMERS MARKET TO RETURN TO UMD
The Sustainable Farmers Association Farmers Market at UMD will start Wednesday
May 26 from 2 - 5 p.m. or until sellout, outside Kirby Plaza. The
farmers market will be back every Wednesday through September 29. In May,
find perennials, vegetable transplants, locally raised meat, and eggs.

BENEFIT SEMINARS AVAILABLE ON TAPE
The University of Minnesota Employee Benefits Brown Bag seminars are available
to the UMD campus via video tapes. The tapes are available on reserve

your Financial Management Skills, Minnesota Life: Mutual fund
data - what it means and how to use it, and Vanguard: How

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED
The Medical School is looking for current smokers to participate in a
University research project on the effects of abstinence from smoking
on blood pressure and cortisol. The project is conducted at the UMD School
of Medicine. Call 726-8896 for further screening and information.
FRESHMEN OUTDOOR TRIPS
Recreational Sports Outdoor Program is again offering Freshman Outdoor
Trips August 31- September 3, and need faculty and staff to participate.
Faculty or staff will be paired with one or two trained student leaders.
The Outdoor Program leader coordinates all of the logistical detail and
instruction. Faculty and staff come along to interact with new students.
The trip provides freshmen an opportunity to start at UMD with a better
understanding of college life, learn that faculty/staff are great people,
and they discover wonderful outdoor opportunities.
