DARLAND ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The following students have been selected to receive the Raymond W. Darland
All-American Scholarship for the 2004-05 academic year: James Artmann,
mechanical engineering major, Julie Glasscock, double major in chemistry
and biochemistry/molecular biology and Helen Velishek, Womens Studies
major, Spanish minor.
The scholarship program was established by Regent Emeritus Richard L.
Griggs in honor of Provost Emeritus Raymond W. Darland. Scholarship criteria
are academic achievement and leadership contributions to UMD. Each student
will receive a $3,500 scholarship.
AIR FORCE ROTC SELECTS LOCAL STUDENTS FOR INTERNSHIPS
Scott Klar and Jason Schreiber, Electrical and Computer Engineering majors,
were selected to participate in the Air Force Officer Accession and Training
Schools Summer Technical Recruiting Internship Program. They are
two of 40 students selected nation-wide for this internship program. Upon
completion of the program, many of the interns will be offered a $15,000/year
scholarship to participate in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps
Students from the Department of Biology were awarded the following scholarships:
John McCabe Scholarship, Eric G. Bluemn and Karen S. Myren; T.O. Odlaug
Scholarship, Daniel M. Fallon, Corwin D. Nelson and Naomi R. Tucker; Ed
and Alma Turcotte Scholarship, Jared E. Lund and Neil J. Olson; Sikander
M. Karim Pre-Veterinary Medicine Award, Lindsey R. Seifert; Enbridge Scholarship,
Nicholas B. Vidor; T.O. Odlaug Award for Outstanding Senior, Kerry L.
Kuffenkam; Outstanding First Year Student, Marie H. Foss and Katherine
J. Hines; Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant, Anna C. Peterson; Graduate
Teaching Assistant, Special Recognition, Rebecca Anderson and Katharine
