Experts List
UMD is updating its on-line Experts List, http://www.d. umn.edu/currents/experts/.
Faculty and staff who wish to be included should submit the following
to Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu:
name, title, work phone, work address, home phone (optional), e-mail address,
web address (optional), and three to nine topic descriptors. Included
faculty and staff should review their listing and submit any changes to
Cheryl Reitan at creitan@d.umn.edu. Changes and submissions will be accepted
until March 1.
MORRIS K. UDALL SCHOLARSHIPS
UMD students in fields relating to the environment, and Native American
and Alaskan Native students in fields related to health care or tribal
public policy, are invited to apply for Morris K. Udall Scholarships.
Environmental issues can be approached in a multi-disciplinary way, the
scholarship is offered to students from a broad range of disciplines.
Majors include: environmental engineering, agriculture, biology, other
natural sciences, natural resource management, political science, sociology,
anthropology, geography, cultural studies, history, public policy, and
pre-law. To be considered, students must be nominated by their institution.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is at 4:30 p.m. February
24, in BohH 209. The scholarships, which are to be used for the 2005-2006
academic year, will be awarded in April. Applications are available in

COMMISSION ON WOMEN GRANTS
The UMD Commission on Women is currently accepting grant applications
for the 2005-2006 academic year. Grant information and applications are
available online at: http://www.d.umn.edu/comwomen/
The application deadline for small grants, $300 or less, will be accepted
throughout academic year. The deadline for major grants, $301-$1000, for
Fall semester 2005 programs is April 15. Funding is provided for
proposals that meet the Commission on Women mission of enhancing the environment
for women at UMD; presentations/events that are generated from and delivered
on campus; lectures, based on the speakers focus; travel to conferences
is funded only when knowledge gained from the conference will directly
impact a large group of women at UMD.

TECHFEST
Techfest 2005 is right around the corner. This event will take place from
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1, in the Kirby Ballroom. The
deadline for the Call for Proposals is Friday, March 11:

UMD STORES
Grad Fest 2005 will be held in Kirby Ballroom February 23 from 10 a.m.
- 6 p.m. Graduating seniors will have the opportunity purchase their graduation
regalia at 20% off, register for giveaways, and visit with various vendors
who can provide them with products and services needed before, during,
and after graduation. UMD Stores, Etc. has bargain childrens books
and up to 50% off UMD wear and gifts, art supplies, and school and office
products. UMD Stores, Etc. also offers a UPS/Mail Center where customers
can buy stamps and mailing supplies, and get packages shipped. Check out
the Show Your Colors Sale in UMD Stores street level Friday,
February 25. Wear UMD wear that day and get 25% off one item of UMD wear.

QUICKCARE CLINIC NOW OPEN
QuickCare is a new clinic for employees, spouses/same-sex domestic partners,
and dependent children over 18 months. The QuickCare clinic, opened February
21, makes it easier for faculty, staff and dependents to access medical
care for common ailments that have specific treatments.
QuickCare is located in Room 101, UMD Health Services Facility, 615 Niagara
Court on the UMD campus. No appointments are necessary and visits usually
take about 15 minutes. QuickCare will be open 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1:30-4
p.m., Monday through Friday, during the academic school year, September
through May. For UPlan members, the copayment is $5 per QuickCare visit
for treatments and screenings and there is no copayment for immunizations.
