STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM WITH SBE
Students can experience a senior-level international management course
focusing on emerging economies and the European Union, to be offered on
the campus of American University in Bulgaria during May Session 2006.
Students will also interact with local businesses and entrepreneurs and
integrate the coursework with real-life experiences. This program is the
first study abroad program for LSBE, and was designed by Sanjay Goel,
associate professor.
The program is offered through UMDs International Education office
and coordinated by Maria Vuldjeva, 726-6673, mvuldjev@d.umn.edu.

BIKE LOCKERS
UMD now has bike lockers for rent. They have been installed on test basis
below the dining center building and will be rented through the Cashiers
Office in Darland. These durable units allow safe, daily storage of bicycles
away from the weather elements. There are currently six bike lockers available
on a first come, first serve basis Additional lockers may be added if
warranted by demand. Call Greg Sather at 726-6137 with questions.
EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
The International Club of the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is
seeking donations to help those in need from the earthquake disasters
in Pakistan and India. To donate, visit the International Club booth outside
the Kirby Bookstore every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. until November 11.
Checks can be made out to the International Club or the Edhi Foundation.

GROUP FITNESS PASSES
Fall Group Fitness passes may be purchased for the remainder of the semester,
October 31 - December 16, for a pro-rated cost of $35 (only $5 per week).
The pass entitles you to attend any of 35 group fitness classes per week:
A one class pass is also offered. See the RSOP Office, Room
121 SpHC. Class schedules may be found at www.umdrsop.org
under Fitness/Wellness.
INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS
Health Services and College of Pharmacy, Duluth, students are teaming
together this fall to immunize the UMD campus community against influenza.
Immunizations will be available in Health Services on Wednesday, November
9 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Influenza immunizations are fully funded by University
of Minnesota UPlan for faculty and staff with their UCard, otherwise $15.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE NOMINATION
Submit nominations for the Outstanding Service Award between now and 9
a.m. on December 15. The program was developed to recognize the outstanding
contributions of UMDs AFSCME (clerical, technical and health care),
civil service (non bargaining unit) and academic professional/administrative
(P&A) employees who do not hold faculty rank.

PARKING FORUMS
Three one-hour forums are being held to discuss UMD parking and what can
be done to improve it. They will be held on Wednesday, November 9 at 2
p.m., Tuesday, November 15 at 11 a.m., and at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November
17. The forums will be in Kirby Lounge and are hosted by the Chancellors
Ad Hoc Parking Committee.
SWENSON BUILDING SCULPTURE
On Thursday morning, October 27, the first-half of the outdoor sculpture
designed for the lawn of UMDs Swenson Science Building was erected.
The sculpture, titled Wild Ricing Moon, was designed by internationally
known sculptor and leading environmental artist, John David Mooney.

The UMD United Community Campaign and UMD Stores thanks everyone who contributed
to Bridge the Gap for Positive Change in October. 100% of
the money deposited in the change containers went directly to Hurricane
Katrina Disaster Relief.
UMD Stores, Etc. is featuring a childrens book sale November 7-14.

chairs. Receive a 10% discount on chairs ordered by December 13. The UPS
Mail Center is open in UMD Stores, Etc., Monday through Friday from 8

UMD Stores Sidewalk Sale is November 15 - 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in
Kirby Student Center and will feature UMD wear, gifts, art supplies, office
and school products, computer supplies, and bargain books.
Moleskine journals are now available in UMD Stores art supplies area.
Jefferson Lines is offering daily bus service, year round, from the UMD
Campus to the Twin Cities. Purchase tickets at UMD Stores street level.
