CW LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The UMD Commission on Women announces its second leadership program for
faculty and staff women on campus beginning January 2006. Women
in Leadership: Finding the Balance will be a four-part leadership
series offered to a cohort of ten campus women.
The program will provide an opportunity to experience a dynamic, interactive,
intensely personal, approach to finding balance. Members selected for
the cohort will represent diverse areas of campus, and will have expressed
an authentic interest and commitment to the program.
Applications are available at the Commission on Women website, www.d.umn.edu/comwomen/.
Applications will be accepted until December 16. Applicants will be notified
of their acceptance by December 22.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE NOMINATION
Submit nominations for the Outstanding Service Award between now and 9
a.m. on December 15. The program was developed to recognize the outstanding
contributions of UMDs AFSCME (clerical, technical and health care),
civil service (non bargaining unit) and academic professional/administrative
(P&A) employees who do not hold faculty rank.

UMD STORES INFO
The UMD Stores holiday sale is December 7-11 featuring 25% off UMD wear
and gifts on the street level. Gamma Sigma Sigma will be at the Kirby
Plaza entrance of UMD Stores wrapping gifts to raise money for Adopt-A-Family.
Enjoy holiday music provided by the UMD Tuba Ensemble on Friday, December
9 at noon in the UMD Kirby Plaza entrance.
The art supplies holiday sale features canvas, canvas boards, French style
easels, table easels, acrylic paint sets, gold sable brush sets, carry
cases, watercolor field sketch books, art markers sets, chalk pastels,
wire bound sketch books, artist totes, and art pencils wood box sets,
now through December 23.
UMD Stores, Etc. will have a Wish List sale through December
14, featuring UMD wear, art supplies, gifts, bargain computer software,
and more, plus register to win free prizes. Free photos will be offered
with the Grinch on Monday, December 12 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in UMD Stores,
Etc. Experience the ergonomic benefits of selected chairs. Receive a 10%
discount on chairs ordered by December 13. The UPS Mail Center is open
in UMD Stores, Etc., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Customers
can buy stamps and mailing supplies, and have their packages shipped.
Comedian and political commentator Al Franken will broadcast his radio
show live from the Marshall Performing Arts Center on December 7, 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. UMD Stores has Frankens books and CDs available at the
show and in the stores for purchase.
Meet author, James H. Fetzer on Wednesday, December 14 from 1-4 p.m. in
UMD Stores lower level for book signings and conversation. Fetzer, a philosopher
of science who came to UMD as a full professor in 1987, is well-known
for his work on the death of President John F. Kennedy, including his
three edited books, Assassination Science (1998), Murder in Dealey Plaza
(2000), and The Great Zapruder Film Hoax (2003). He has also co-authored
American Assassination: The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone (2004).
UMD Stores is a sponsor of UMD Bulldog Hockey. Receive a free UMD Stores
pizza cutter at the womens game on Friday, December 9 and the mens
game on Friday, December 16 while supplies last.
UMD Stores lower level will feature a photo special on reprints and enlargements
December 5-17. Moleskine journals are now available in UMD Stores art
supplies area. Jefferson Lines is offering daily bus service, year round,
from the UMD Campus to the Twin Cities. Purchase tickets at UMD Stores
street level. Free Even Mother Nature Loves Maroon and Gold
posters are now available at UMD Stores lower level (175 Kirby Student
Center).
UMD Stores will be open during the holidays from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. December
23, 27-30, and January 2. All stores will be closed December 24-26, 31
and January 1.

SUMMER 2006 PRELIMINARY LISTING
The UMD Summer Term 2006 preliminary course listing is now available in
print format at collegiate Student Affairs Offices, Solon Campus Center,
and Continuing Education Windows 1 and 2 in the Darland Administration
Building. Contact CE at 726-8113 or lmartin@d.umn.edu for additional copies.
Registration for summer term begins on March 1, 2006. There are no queue
times for summer registration; seats are available on a first-come, first-serve
basis.
Terms are: May Session: May 15 - June 3; and Summer Session: June 6 -
July 29.
