UMD STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS
Three graduating UMD students have been admitted to the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh next year, and have received scholarships to help offset tuition and fees. Peter Greenwood, from Minneapolis, majoring at UMD in Spanish and International Studies and minoring in Political Science and Psychology, will study the Global Political Economy.
Barbara Aguiar, from São Paulo, Brazil, majoring at UMD in Political
Science and minoring in Spanish and International Studies, will concentrate on Security Studies.
Monica Salazar, from Bogotá, Colombia, majoring at UMD in Music Performance (Flute) and International Studies, will study the Global Political
Economy.
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH
The National Conference on Undergraduate Research was
held at the University of North Carolina Asheville from April 6 - 8. UMD students who attended and made presentations were:

INSTANT LIBRARY HELP
The UMD Library has launched a new service to offer online assistance
in real time to UMD students, faculty and staff. With the launch of the
new Ask Us! instant messaging (IM) service, people are now
able to quickly communicate with a librarian without leaving the comfort
of their computers at home, in their offices or even in the Library.
IM Chat and Chat/Co-Browse services are available to all UMD faculty,
staff and students. Chat/Co-Browse is available Monday through Friday
from 1 to 4 p.m. IM is available whenever the Reference Desk is open (65
hours per week.) Users seeking help at other times may use the e-mail
form on the Ask Us! page. To learn more, and to learn how

There will be a free marathon training workshop with Rod Raymond, UMD Wellness Director on Thursday, April 27 at 2 p.m. in UMD Stores street level.
Rod is an American Council on Exercise Master Personal trainer, a 20-time Ironman Triathlon finisher, two-time Olympic trials participant, and international champion of the Scottish Coast-to-Coast, the Trans Swiss, and the Boarder-to-Boarder. Advanced and beginner Marathon Training Logs are available at UMD Stores for $10 each.
The band, Boy Girl Boy Girl, will perform in Kirby Plaza at noon on Friday, April 28. This Mod-pop throwback group smashes together
bits of psychedelic, surf, and punk rock. This free concert is sponsored by Auxiliary Services, UMD Stores, and Plaza Food Court.
Donate $1 at any UMD Stores location now through May 4 and fill out a sponsorship card to show your support for the American Cancer Society
RELAY FOR LIFE. Cards will be displayed in UMD Stores, Etc. (across from Northern Shores Coffee Shop). Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event,
starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 5, designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society.
During the event, teams of people gather at the UMD Fieldhouse and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
