Campus enrollment for fall semester is 10,800, of whom 2,275 are freshmen. More than 3,000 students live on campus, including 87 percent of freshmen. More than 45 percent of UMD’s entering freshmen this fall are from the seven-county Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. UMD continues to draw 10 percent of new freshmen from Wisconsin, and numbers from other states are up.

Win money for designing a website. Up to five $500 awards will be given. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. The project is to develop a Web site for an undergraduate course and/or Web based materials for an undergraduate course. The deadline for submission is Friday, January 26, 2007.

UMD Stores will be participating in the grand opening events at the new Sports and Health Center addition on Wednesday, September 20. There will be a demonstration of the latest technology with prizes.

UMD Market Day in the Plaza is every Wednesday from 2 - 4:30 p.m. in UMD Kirby Plaza (1120 Kirby Drive) through September 27. Listen to live music performed by Galynn White and Terrance Smith on September 20 and Sasha Mercedes on September 27. The Farmer’s Market offers a fresh assortment of annuals, perennials, cut flowers, skin and health products, vegetables, fruits, herbs, and more. There’s something new every week. Visit UMD Stores for “Penny-An-Ounce” fountain pop and featured clearance merchandise. What’s new at UMD Stores? EXPRESS is located at 109 Kirby Plaza, across from Northern Shores Coffee Shop, and offers a great combination of food, beverages, UMD wear, paperback books, and more. Plus, it offers convenient services including The Mail Center and photo developing. UMD Stores EXPRESS grand opening will be September 25-29 with daily drawings to win UMD Stores “EXPRESS paks”. Pick up a great read at UMD Stores lower level in the expanded General Books area. Recommendations and special orders are welcome.

Students enrolled for the current term who have an active U Card may use their U Card for purchasing textbooks, laptops, and other merchandise at UMD Stores. A picture ID must be presented along with their U Card for all purchases. Charges will be reflected on their student account and will be billed along with their tuition and fees.

Jefferson Lines offers daily bus service, year round, from the UMD Campus to the Twin Cities. Purchase tickets at UMD Stores street level.
