The UMD Fine Arts Academy is now accepting applications for spring semester
Kindermusik classes, beginning the week of Jan. 19. In a Kindermusik class,
parents and children— newborn to 7 years old—sing, dance and
make music together to develop better learning skills for the child. For

Volunteers from UMD and Duluth will help re-build homes in Gulfport, Miss.
from March 14-21. Volunteer leaders are coordinating the effort through
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA, http://www.pcusa.org/pda/); the
trip is open to people of all faiths, and ways of understanding. Volunteers
must be 18 years of age, be in good physical condition, and have an open
and flexible attitude. The registration fee is $375 per person. Payment
is due by Feb. 6, 2009.

The Recreational Sports Outdoor Program is offering three trips to UMD
faculty and students. The winter break trip is an Everglades sea kayaking
adventure, held from Jan. 11-16. The spring break trips, held March 14-22,
are Backpacking the Appalachian Trail and Surfing in Southern California.
