| UMD Identity Standards
Introduction Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin worked with the advertising agency, Westmorelandflint, to develop new identity standards for UMD in 2006. Because of changes in UMD useage, in 2010 UMD shifted to using the streamlined version of the logo. For all new projects the streamlined logo is recommended. Using the older versions of the logo is only permitted if it is costly to replace it. The use of "Reaching Higher" has been discontinued as that scholarship initiative is over. The use of these guidelines will present an image to the community that shows the University of Minnesota Duluth as a unified, strong organization. UMD is part of the University of Minnesota system but at the same time it functions as a separate University with unique challenges and opportunities. This graphic identity signals our common mission. It also marks the University of Minnesota Duluth as a prestigious university in its own right. Two offices on campus assist departments with the implementation of the identity program, University Relations and Development and UMD Printing Services.
