Housing at UMD

Housing & Residence Life

Disability Resources and Housing & Residence Life will consider requests for housing accommodations from students whose disability may impact them in the residential setting. Housing accommodation requests are reviewed by our staff, housing staff, and health services staff.

After the request is reviewed, the student will be notified of the decision promptly.  Please know that single rooms are reserved for individuals who document a higher need and for whom living with a roommate is not viable.

Housing Accommodations available at UMD can include:

  • Single Room
  • Roll-In Shower
  • Grab Bars in Bath
  • Strobe Light/Door Knocker
  • Room with Bath
  • Low Closet Shelves
  • Kitchen

Housing Accommodation Request Process

Housing accommodations are dependent on space availability. Be sure to make your requests as early as possible. The student must submit the following information to our office:

 The Housing Accommodation Request Form

  • This form must be completed by the treating professional.
  • All sections of the form must be completed before the request can be considered.

Please contact our office to get this form. If you plan to request academic accommodations, please complete and return a Request for Accommodations Form and Current Medical Documentation Verification Form.
