The Department

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is situated on the East end of the Univesity of Minnesota Duluth, in M W Alworth hall. UMD, situated on the Lake Superior, is an excellent school for undergraduate research and our department is no exception. Every student that graduates with a degree from this department has completed a senior design project of some caliber.

The department consists of some 250 students and 10 faculty. Student enrollment has been growing steadily for several years. A major contributing factor is that this program is nationally accreditted by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. (1993-1994).

The department offices are located on the 2nd floor of M W Alworth hall with our labs scattered about the building. We have instructional labs, research labs, and general use computer labs. We also have a student study lounge located on the first floor that is maintained by the IEEE.
