UMD students used the material in their syllabus to guide their work with students, required textbooks and classroom practice to develop conferencing skills, and their university accounts to communicate with high school students. They used the high school computer lab for conferencing with students, and the technology therein to assist the students in their searches. Students used material from their two composition courses to assess the reliability and sponsorship of the Web sites that the high school students were using.

High school students used the computer lab, search engines, and Web sites to gather research information. They used PowerPoint software to complete their presentations.
