Assistantships/Tuition Fellowships in the Department of Education
The University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Education have teaching assistantships, research assistantships and tuition fellowships available to student who have been admitted to the doctoral program. The teaching and research assistantships will consist of a tuition waiver, monthly stipend and 10-20 hours of work per week for the contracted time period.
Students are eligible to hold a graduate assistantship or fellowship if they are:
- Admitted to the Ed.D. graduate school program at UMD
- Registered for a minimum number of required credits an assistantship is held (typically a minimum of six credits per semester)
The typical 2007-2008 academic appointment for assistantships begins August 28, 2007, and ends May 27, 2008, with optional summer appointment. However, there may be different configurations of assistantships which might include:
- Single-semester: A single semester appointment is for one semester only and runs according to the official payroll semester dates. A student must be appointed semester by semester. It may be extended based on the needs of the hiring department, performance, and availability of funds.
- Annual: An annual appointment runs for a nine-month academic or 12-month fiscal year.
