International student teaching placements are made by the Field Experiences office AFTER a teacher candidate applies for student teaching. STEP, IESE and UECH faculty review the teacher candidates application and decide if the student teacher can student teacher abroad.
Education teacher candidates who have been accepted to student teach internationally will have two 8 week placements, one abroad and one in MN or WI.
In the international placement, a professor from a local college or school will supervise teacher candidates. A UMD faculty member will also visit teacher candidate during international student teaching.
