thorough foundation in theory and a strong hands-on laboratory and engineering design
experience. We offer the following programs:

Majors:

Electrical Engineering B.S. (B.S.E.E.)

Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (M.S.E.E.)

Minors:

Computer Engineering Minor

Electrical Engineering Minor

Energy Engineering Minor

Our programs are designed to equip our students with the necessary knowledge, skills and
experience to contribute to the wide variety of electrical engineering industry, their profession
and society as a whole.

Student Success

Our outstanding Faculty is passionate about student success. Our faculty members are not
only innovative teachers, they also work with students one-on-one to ensure their success.

We have an open-door culture in the department, and students can approach any faculty
member to discuss homework assignments, research opportunities or career paths.

Our faulty members involve our students in their research as well as various outreach
programs and/or extracurricular activities including student clubs.

Our students have no problems in finding jobs and many secure jobs before graduation with
handsome salary packages. UMD's most recent graduate follow-up report for electrical
engineering shows a 100% placement rate for our graduates with 91% employed and 9%
continuing education. Among the employed the salary ranges from $52,000 to $94,000 with
median salary of $71,075. A more detailed report on recent graduates can be found here.

Community and Industrial Connections

We have an Industrial Advisory Board that keeps us on track to prepare our students for the
continuing evolving nature of the of the electrical engineering field.

We also participate in outreach efforts like after-school programs to mentor youth and inspire
STEM learning. We welcome high school student groups and offer engaging demonstrations to nurture their interests in the field of electrical engineering. We participate both on campus and off campus events.
