Portable Restroom Requirements
Special Events and Crowd Gatherings

Many of the special events on campus will require some portable sanitation units (PSUs).
The number of PSUs required is determined by a number of factors:

  1. Number and mix of men and women at an event.

  2. Time between visits to sanitation facilities.

  3. Average length of stay at the event.

  4. Time PSUs will be cleaned - during or after the event.

  5. Other.

Since there are several variables involved, a portable sanitation company must be engaged and it's suggested that the company use the recommendations of the Portable Sanitation Association International.  For additional information and approvals, contact Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) at ehso@d.umn.edu.
