Biometric Screening

As part of the Wellness Program, biometric screening is available to all University employees (current or retired) and their spouses covered by the UPlan Medical Program.  This screen includes a simple blood test for cholesterol and glucose, blood pressure check and body composition with 150 wellness points awarded.  For more information about Biometric Screenings, please click here.

Appointments are required.  To schedule biometric screening, call QuickCare at (218) 726-8666 or email qcare@d.umn.edu.

Other Services

The services listed below are available to UMD employees, their spouse, and dependent children aged 12 and older covered by UPlan.  Employees and dependents who are not UPlan participants can still receive services at QuickCare, but you will need to pay the full cost of care, and then submit the bill to your own insurance company.  Please bring your U Card, insurance card, and potential co-pay (cash or check only) to walk-in visits.  See cost information below to learn more.

Acute Care Visits

QuickCare visits are conducted by a Registered Nurse working under a scope of practice which includes the ability to triage, assess and treat only minor, acute medical concerns.  Examples of conditions that may be addressed are listed below. If your medical concern falls outside this scope of practice, you may be referred to your own medical provider or another medical facility such as an Urgent Care or Emergency Room.

Note:  If you were seen by a medical provider within the last three weeks, and your condition is not better, or if you have a chronic (ongoing) condition that needs attention, please make an appointment with your medical provider.

Walk-in visits are available Monday through Thursday, during designated hours (see below) or by appointment; call (218) 726-8666 or email qcare@d.umn.edu.

 Examples of commonly addressed concerns:

  • Eye, ears, nose, and throat:  cough or cold, ear discomfort, pink eye (no contact lens wearers), stye, seasonal allergies, sinus discomfort, sore throat, canker sores
  • Suspected skin conditions: athlete's foot, ringworm, minor burns, minor skin infections, minor abrasions
  • GI symptoms (acute episodes only): nausea/vomiting, constipation, diarrhea
  • Checks (no copay): blood pressure, temperature, heart rate

  • Rapid strep test, if deemed appropriate after assessment.  If the rapid strep test is negative, a throat culture will be done.
  • Mantoux testing for TB

*Please note, QuickCare does not have access to full laboratory or radiology services.

Appointment required for vaccinations.

  • Flu
  • Tetanus vaccine (Td or Tdap)
  • Hepatitis A and B

QuickCare is an in-network provider for all UPlan medical program options, and no referrals are needed. If you are a UPlan member, your copayment is based on your insurance plan, but is typically $15 (must be paid in cash/check).  Those that are not UPlan members will be billed for the cost of the visit.  There is no copayment for immunizations, biometric screenings or quick checks (examples, blood pressure, pulse, temperature).
