Ideally, the M.A. in English should be completed in two years. According
to this schedule, the M.A. candidate should complete, on average,
7 or 8 credits per semester. Further, satisfactory progress requires
the completion of those credits taken. To be making satisfactory progress,
a student should have no more than two incompletes at any time.
Satisfactory progress requires that the student file the program upon completion of 10 credits of graduate work that is to be applied toward the degree. It is also expected that all Plan B papers will be approved according to the schedule described in "The Plan B Requirement." The language requirement must be met, and the reading list for the comprehensive exam must be approved, at least four weeks before the exam. The examination date cannot be set until all three of these requirements have been fulfilled. Finally, satisfactory progress toward degree requires the student to maintain the minimum Program GPA of 3.0.
