Enweyang Ojibwe Language Nest

Introduction

The Enweyang Ojibwe Language Nest, located at our beautiful Chester Park site on the UMD campus, is committed to providing a 100% Ojibwe language environment for young children. Enweyang is a preschool program serving children beginning at 33 months old up through the first day of kindergarten. Our program operates Monday through Thursday, September through May. Full and part-time enrollment options are available.

Mission

The Mission of Enweyang is to provide an environment for children to learn, listen to, and speak Ojibwemowin. All subjects are taught in Ojibwemowin and children are immersed in Ojibwe culture, history and language – izhitwaawin. We will fulfill this mission by working with parents, community, students, and staff committed to the revitalization of Ojibwemowin.

See our program brochure for more information.
