Application Guidelines
The UMD Office of Equal Opportunity
(OEO) and the Office of Equity Education and Services (EES) have set forth
the following grant application guidelines for organizations or individuals
seeking a grant from the UMD Diversity Programming Budget.
Organizations or individuals must submit
a completed application in accordance with these guidelines to initiate
their request.
OEO/EES has limited funds available to support
UMD-centered activities sponsored by UMD groups or individuals that
focus on diversity, discrimination, sexual harassment, or equal
opportunity/affirmative action.
Small Grants (up to
$300.) May be awarded to individuals or groups
and/or organizations.
Major Grants ($301
and above). These major grants may also be awarded
to individuals, groups and/or organizations.
Grants awarded to individuals, groups and/or organizations
in one fiscal year do not guarantee funding in the subsequent year.
General Guidelines
- Funds will be awarded as one-time monetary grants to UMD organizations
or individuals for the purpose of promoting diversity, and educating
the campus community and the Duluth community as a whole in the areas
of discrimination, sexual harassment, or equal opportunity/affirmative
action.
- It is the responsibility of the "group", "organization",
and/or "college" requesting funds to prepare the documents
necessary for transferring grant monies to the appropriate account and/or
making payment to the program participants. "Individuals"
requesting funds must have the sponsoring "group", "organization",
and/or "college" prepare such documents. OEO/EES will not be responsible for preparing these documents.
- A separate application must be submitted for each activity.
- A second grant request application cannot be submitted during the
same fiscal year for the same activity. However, organizations or individuals
may apply for additional grants for different activities throughout the year.
We will limit at our discretion the number of additional grants awarded to a
single individual organization.
- As part of your grant request, please respond to the following question:
How would funding this request support the mission of OEO?
- The Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and the Coordinator
of Equity Education and Services will consider each grant application
and will determine which requests will be funded as well as the amount
to be awarded. In some instances, a lesser or greater amount than requested
may be awarded.
- Review of grant applications will begin October 1st and
will continue on a rolling basis throughout the academic year as long
as funds are available.
If your request is granted, you will be required
to submit a 1-2 page report explaining how the funds assisted you
in supporting the mission of OEO.
