"Come and Cheer on the Dogs!"
For the sixth time in team history, the University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament. This year they will be heading to Canton, N.Y. to face St. Lawrence University in the NCAA Quarterfinal round.
The Bulldogs, 22-8-3 overall, will play St. Lawrence University on Saturday, March 18 at 7 p.m. (EST). Tickets will be available at the door of Appleton Arena on the day of the game. Adult tickets are $5, student and children are $3, and kids under 5 are free. Look for the UMD Banner.
A Bulldog Pre-Game Party will be held before the game from 5 - 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 18 in the Rushton Room of the Best Western University Inn. Join the University of Minnesota Duluth for refreshments. Accommodations at the Best Western University Inn, 315-386-8522.
In other UMD Women's Hockey news, for the fourth year in a row UMD has a player named a Patty Kazmaier Top-3 Finalist. Junior and Basel, Switzerland native G. Riitta Schaublin earned the honor. The award, presented annually by The USA Hockey Foundation, honors the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. This year's winner will be revealed at the ninth annual Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Dinner on March 25 at the Radisson University Hotel in Minneapolis, Minn., and will feature the three finalists, the top two teams in the NCAA Women's Frozen Four, as well as special keynote speaker and 2005 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner Krissy Wendell (Brooklyn Park, Minn.).
