UMD Alumni Circumnavigate the Great Lakes By Bicycle

On May 1, 2012, two UMD alumni, Kris McNeal ('10) and Zach Chase ('10) started an epic journey around the Great Lakes of North America beginning in Duluth. For the next three months, they will bicycle over 5,300 miles through two countries, eight states, and more than 20 major cities. Vika Films, founded in Duluth in 2011, is currently working on a documentary film about their adventure entitled Water Bike’s Great Lakes Documentary. To track their progress, see where they've stopped and where they are, and get their latest news, visit their website.

This is not the first time the men have taken on a mammoth biking endeavor. In 2008, they biked along the U.S. West Coast. During their journey, they covered 1702 miles in 30 days through three states Washington, Oregon, and California. Their adventure ended at the U.S/Mexico border.
