Annual Twin Ports Heart Walk at UMDCalling for team captains and participants! Sign up for the 15th annual Twin Ports Heart Walk taking place on the UMD campus Saturday, September 29, 2012. Registration begins at 8:30 am, with the walk starting at 10 am. Register online at www.northlandheartwalk.org “This is an amazing opportunity for campus and community members to join together for a healthy cause,” said Rachel Gilbertson, UMD health coach and health educator. Participants will enjoy live music and entertainment while walking. Free food and beverages for the walkers provided by SuperOne Foods and Subway. The UMD Heart Walk is co-sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor and the UMD Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity. The Heart Walk helps raise money to support heart and stroke research as well as public and professional education programs. Research funded by the American Heart Association has yielded important discoveries such as CPR, life-extending drugs, pacemakers, bypass surgery and surgical techniques to repair heart defects.
