Graduation season is fast approaching, and UMD is sending their graduates off right with a party hosted at Glensheen, the Historical Congdon Estate. Students graduating in spring, summer, or December 2014 can RSVP for the affair, and because space is limited this party is exclusive to graduating seniors; sorry, no guests.
Make Your Reservations Now!
The festivities will be held on Thursday, May 8 from 6 to 9 pm regardless of the weather. Students are able to make reservations until Monday, May 5 for $10 and can do so online or by calling the Alumni Association at 218-726-7164.
The Alumni Association has put together an exciting night of celebration, which includes:
- Tours of the historic Glensheen Mansion (including a chance to take an exclusive flashlight tour!)
- A picnic-style dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, and a vegetarian option catered by Famous Dave's.
- Two drink tickets
- Bonfires and s'mores on the beach
- Giveaways from local Duluth businesses
- Music by KUMD, and they're taking song requests! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with your song of choice.
Upon arrival at the party, be sure to have your Student ID and driver's license ready.
Parking is limited at the Glensheen estate, so UMD will be providing a shuttle that will depart from Maroon lot B along College Street at 5:30, 6, and 6:20 pm. The bus will make three departures from Glensheen at 8:15, 9, and 9:15 pm. As a thank you for riding the shuttle, you'll automatically be included in a drawing for an exclusive flashlight tour of Glensheen's Mansion after the regular tours are done. If you must drive, remember to carpool!
A Memorable Evening
Seniors, you don't want to miss this enjoyable opportunity to spend time with your friends and take a little time away from school before graduation. Make some memories, have a few laughs, and celebrate your accomplishment!

Glensheen Fun Fact: Both Chester and Clara Congdon attended Syracuse University in New York, graduating in 1875. They waited six years after graduation to get married, until Chester felt he was financially ready to support a family. Facts like this and more await you on the tours at Grad Party!
