Associate Professor Jill Jenson has been appointed director of the Center for Writing and Learning Excellence. The Center unifies her current responsibilities for the Writers’ Workshop and writing across the curriculum with the new responsibility of heading the Supportive Services Program.
Jenson holds a master’s degree in English and a doctorate in Educational Policy and Administration and has been a member of the Department of Writing Studies for over 25 years, seven of which she served as department head. Over the past three years, she has been working with faculty from several disciplines to enhance writing in their courses and programs.
In addition, Jenson established UMD’s highly successful campus-wide writing center, the Writers’ Workshop, where last year consultants held over 2,200 one-to-one sessions with UMD undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff.
