More than 300 Duluth elementary school students will attend “Story Hour,” a UMD Orchestra concert that tells stories through music, on October 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. The concert is in Weber Music Hall, 1151 University Drive.
“This is a huge community engagement activity,” says Jefferson Campbell, the Department of Music chair. “The work of our students is shared with elementary school students through music, and this performance is designed just for them.”
This year’s theme is fairy tales. The director of Orchestras, Rudy Perrault, says the repertoire includes The Magic Flute Overture, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and more.
Students from Piedmont, Lowell, and Myers-Wilkens are planning to attend.
This is the twelfth year that UMD has partnered with area schools for this performance.
