UMD’s Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) Commission is hosting the annual National Coming Out Day Luncheon in the Kirby Ballroom, 1120 Kirby Drive, on Wednesday, October 7 from 12 -1 pm.
“The GLBTQA Commission is committed to creating a safe and welcoming climate for all students, staff, and faculty at UMD- especially those who identify as members of the GLBTQA community,” says Kathy Heltzer, a member of the commission. “Hosting the annual National Coming Out Day Luncheon is one way that we try to make it happen.”
The speakers are Jaym Fitzgerald, chairperson of the Queer Allied Students Union (QASU), and David Short, an assistant professor of graphic design.
National Coming Out Day, traditionally held on October 11, is an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating coming out as LGBTQ or as an ally.
