| Josh
Aerie is an experienced instructor, chamber
musician, and performer.
He received his Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from the University of Colorado in 2002,
and completed his undergraduate work at Oberlin Conservatory
of Music and Oberlin College, where he received both
a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance and a Bachelor
of Arts with Honors in Anthropology. Mr. Aerie was the
cellist of the Nacht String Quartet, the University
of Colorado’s Graduate Quartet from 2000 to 2002.
Mentored by the Grammy-winning Takacs Quartet, the Nacht
were invited to be the inaugural quartet in an exchange
and residency program with the Hans Eisler Conservatory
in Berlin.
Mr. Aerie is currently on the music faculty
at the College of St. Scholastica as Cello Instructor,
and freelances in the Duluth, MN area. In the summer
of 2004 he moved to Northern Virginia from Los Angeles
where he was a successful freelancer and teacher. While
in the Washington, D.C. area Mr. Aerie performed with
numerous orchestras and for various dignitaries, including
Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs Anthony Principi, foreign ambassadors, and members
of congress at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Strathmore
Hall, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian museums.
Mr. Aerie enjoys teaching and maintains an active studio.
Instructing cellists of all ages and abilities, his
students have distinguished themselves in state and
regional competitions and orchestras, and in school
and scholarship auditions. Breaking out of the “classical
mold,” Mr. Aerie has played electric cello for
various bands, ensembles, and solo artists. He has written
string arrangements for recordings, played for film,
television, and audio sessions, and performed at some
of the most renowned clubs in L.A., Hollywood, Santa
Monica, and Laguna Beach. Mr. Aerie can be heard on
recordings for the Vitamin Records label, the Frozen
Food Section Records, and United Artists Publishing. Josh Aerie

Stephen
Baillie graduated from the University of Northern
Iowa
with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2001. In 2004, he
received a Master of Arts in Religion from Trinity International
University. Stephen has completed formal Suzuki training
with the Suzuki Association of the Americas through Violin
Book 5 and looks forward to further his teacher training
each summer. Stephen currently plays the violin
with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and viola
with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. He also plays
fiddle in a bluegrass gospel band in Duluth. |

A graduate of UMD's Jazz Studies program with a Masters degree in Music Peformance from the University of Minnesota, Mr. Cooper is a performing musician/instructor. He has performed with a wide variety of groups and area bands including The Duluth Bigtime Jazz Orchestra, The Dukes of Hubbard, Clockwork Jazz, No Wait Wait, Hattie and the Black Frames, The Hoot Owls, and currently performs weekly with his band The Fractals. Mr Cooper performs a variety of styles including rock, fingerstyle, rockabilly, blues, jazz, folk, and country. |

Jeremy Ehlert received his degree
at UMD in Jazz Studies. He continues to pursue his passion
for music by performing throughout Minnesota with myriad
musical projects spanning jazz, experimental, avant-garde,
rock, folk, blues, and punk. Mr. Ehlert’s
projects include Hardcore Jollies (funk/rock),
Lucky Southerners (jazz quartet), Found
Dead (punk), and Haus Meeting (experimental/avant-garde).
Mr. Ehlert has taught group classes, private lessons,
and workshops to students of all ages and abilities.
When he’s not playing, teaching, or studying music,
Mr. Ehlert enjoys communing with nature, ethnic food,
chocolate, and foreign films.

| Angela
Foltz has a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
She is an active member of Minnesota Music Teachers Association
(MMTA), serving as Vice President of MMTA's local
branch: Arrowhead Music Teachers Association (AMTA). In
addition, she serves as Program Director for one of MMTA’s
newer programs called Music Bridges, a program integrating
music with other fine arts and catering to each student’s
individual creativity. Angela enjoys teaching in traditional classical style
as well as implementing composing and improvisation
into her teaching. She also enjoys playing and writing
folk music and performs for various events in Duluth. |

Clarinetist Frank Garcia has been a professional
musician for over twenty
years. His career began in his hometown San Diego, where
he played regularly with the San Diego Symphony, the San
Diego Opera, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and SONOR.
He recorded
seven internationally distributed compact discs with these
ensembles, appearing on the Koch International, Pro Arte
and CRI record labels. While attending San Diego State
University and the University of Southern California,
Mr. Garcia studied clarinet with Mitchell Lurie, Christie
Lundquist, William Powell and David Peck. Since
his move to Duluth, MN in 1993, Mr. Garcia has established
himself as a performer, conductor and teacher. He currently
performs with the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra and
has been a member of the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra.
In 1994 he founded the Wind Band, a branch of the Duluth-Superior
Symphony's Youth Orchestra program. Mr. Garcia has taught
clarinet at the University of Wisconsin Superior and the
University of Minnesota Duluth and is currently a woodwind
instructor for the UMD Fine Arts Academy. His high school
students have excelled under his tutelage and the rewards
of teaching inspired him to pursue a Bachelor of Music
Education Degree which he achieved in 2002 from the University
of Minnesota Duluth. Mr. Garcia has been awarded a 2006
Berlex Laboratories "Champions of Courage" grant
to record a compact disc. He will be recording in the
summer of 2006 with pianist and UMD professor Dr. Jeanne
Doty. Mr. Garcia is also a Yamaha Performing Artist/Clinician
and plays on Yamaha clarinets. |

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Jacob Jonker began his studies with Joe Hagedorn at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. He then went on to complete a Master's degree at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, studying under Jeffrey Van. During his studies Jacob received top prizes from both the Schubert Club (First prize, 2007) and Thursday Musical (Second Prize, 2008) scholarship competitions. After completing his Master's degree, Jacob trained as a Suzuki guitar instructor and joined the music faculty at UMD.
Jacob has performed as part of the chamber music series at the James J. Hill mansion, and has been a featured performer in the Minnesota Guitar Society's annual "Guitarathon." He is also enthusiastic about the electric guitar and enjoys teaching a wide variety of musical styles. | |

Tom O'Hara is a graduate
of Jazz Studies from the University of  Minnesota
Duluth. He has more than 20-years of experience teaching
guitar to students of all ages and
abilities. Tom has played at numerous and varied venues
throughout the Twin Ports including outdoor concerts,
festivals, fundraising events, the Duluth Home and Builders
Show, and many others. Tom has performed different styles
of music such as rock, blues, jazz, funk, country, and
classical--with jazz being his preference. He is currently
a worship leader at Freshwater Vineyard Church in Superior,
WI,end. where his wife, Denise, and son, Nolan, also attend. |

| Kate
Kulas received her B. M. in Vocal
Performance from Northwestern University School of Music,
Evanston, IL. She apprenticed with Chautauqua Opera and
Greater Miami Opera and was a AGMA Chorister with the
Lyric Opera of Chicago. Kate's excellent reviews and dedication
to her work in addition to her varied musicianship led
her to be sought after for contemporary and new works.
She has sung lead roles in opera and musical theater with
several companies in the United States and has performed
in Europe performing in Germany and England. Kate has
sung in Latin, French, German, Italian, English, Russian,
Polish and Korean. She considers herself extremely fortunate
to have worked with many of the truly great musicians
of this century. |

Dr. Schauer received his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Wisconsin where he studied with
renowned soloist Catalin Rotaru. He went on to earn his Master of Music degree at Kent State University, studying with Mark Atherton of the Cleveland Orchestra. While at KSU he was awarded the “Leopold Sipe Excellence in Music Award,” later earning his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University where his studied with Paul Robinson. In addition to his classical background, he is a graduate of Berklee College of Music where he earned a Professional Diploma in jazz studies, while there serving as accompanist for the percussion department.
Dr. Schauer has performed in a variety of musical genres throughout the United States, Europe, and Korea. He has served as bassist for the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra Jazz Ensemble, the River Cities Big Band, and numerous orchestras throughout the mid-west. He also served as principle bassist for the Joseph Haydn Festival Orchestra with performances throughout Austria including Mozart’s Mass in C Minor at St. Stevens Cathedral in Vienna and Haydn’s Hornsignal symphony at the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt.
He has performed with many internationally recognized musicians such as Catalin Rotaru of the Bucharest Conservatory, Semmy Stahlhammer of the Royal Stockholm Symphony Orchestra, Rich Ritenour, Korin Fugiwara, and Jim Walker who is best known for his work with film score legend John Williams. He is currently Assistant Professor of double bass at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he teaches applied lessons, the low strings method class, and coaches small ensembles. |

Lorie Scott is in her first year as Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Minnesota Duluth and Instructor of Flute in the Fine Arts Academy at UMD. She is currently teaching applied flute, flute studio class, and Introductory Theory and Ear Training, and is performing with the faculty woodwind quintet. She holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in flute performance from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and business management, summa cum laude, from Luther College.
Dr. Scott recently received grant support from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts to expand a publication and recording project of Sigfrid Karg-Elert's 30 Caprices for Flute. Results of this project include a revised edition of the opus with analytical commentary and CD as well as Fragments on Karg-Elert, a book of technical exercises based on the theoretical appendix of the Caprices. Current arranging projects include a collection of Grieg Lyric Pieces for flute & piano and Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite One for woodwind quintet.
She can be heard on several Klavier Records CD's by the University of North Texas Wind Symphony and has done freelance work with several Dallas ensembles including the Dallas Wind Symphony, East Texas Symphony Orchestra, and Garland Symphony.
Prior to her appointment at UMD, Dr. Scott served on the faculties of Luther College, East Texas Baptist University, and Texas Wesleyan University. Further teaching experience in flute includes a graduate teaching fellowship at the University of North Texas and faculty leave replacement work at Texas Tech University. In addition, Lorie has had a private studio for flutists of all ages for many years and teaches at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the summers. |

Lisa
ZumHofe received her Bachelor of Arts degrees
in Vocal Music Education and Piano
Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1997.
After graduating, she taught 6-8 th grade band, choir,
and general music classes at Maple River East Middle School
in Minnesota Lake, MN. In 2001, she moved back to the
Duluth area and received her Kindermusik certification.
Lisa has
been teaching Kindermusik classes as well as private piano
and voice lessons for the UMD Fine Arts Academy since
then. In 2002, she became Kindermusik Coordinator. In
addition to the Fine Arts Academy, Lisa has taught music
education classes at UMD and St. Scholastica. Currently,
she teaches private piano lessons at Holy Rosary School
in Duluth and is the full-time organist/pianist at Salem
Lutheran Church in Hermantown. |
