Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Financial Aid Probation

After the SAP review is complete, students are notified of their SAP status via their University e-mail account.

• Students who fail to meet one or more of the SAP standards for the first time will be placed on Financial Aid Probation during their next term of attendance at UMD. You are still eligible for financial aid while on probation.

• To be removed from Financial Aid Probation, you must meet ALL SAP minimum cumulative standards (GPA, credit completion ratio and timeframe) by the end of your probation term.

• If, at the end of your probationary term, you are still not meeting ALL minimum cumulative SAP standards, you will be placed on Financial Aid Suspension and will become ineligible for federal, state, campus, and other aid sources.

If you had a recent grade change, are studying abroad or have questions regarding this policy or your status, please contact the Student Assistance Center.
