Current Students

There are many scholarships available to the general undergraduate population at UMD. Some scholarships require that a student have a financial need or meet certain criteria. These restrictions are determined by the donors who make the scholarships possible. In order for us to determine if you have a financial need, you must apply for federal financial aid by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

International students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Below is a complete list of scholarships available through the UMD Office of Financial Aid and Registrar. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies based on interest earnings. A few scholarships require special applications. See the Additional Criteria column for details on special application processes.

In general, the Office of Financial Aid and Registrar can identify students who have a financial need and those who meet special criteria. These scholarships are awarded for the upcoming academic year by financial aid administrators. If you feel you qualify for a particular scholarship, please send a letter of interest to our office. Only one letter is necessary for multiple scholarships. Please state your name, Social Security number, name of the scholarship(s) you are interested in, along with information supporting your qualifications for the scholarship. We must have your letter of interest and your FAFSA on file by May 15th (exception: Earl T. Bester Scholarship and LaVerne Noyes Scholarship - see below). If you do not see the scholarship(s) you applied for on your award notification, you can assume your application was not selected.
