Responsibilities of a Student in the Advisement Process
1. Be prepared for your meeting with your advisor; have necessary forms, an idea of the kind of courses you will need and a list of alternatives.
2. Be knowledgeable about policies, procedures, and requirements. They are listed in a variety of sources (e.g. bulletin, academic handbook, department checksheets, etc.).
3. Clarify some of your personal values and goals in advance of advisement sessions.
4. Accept responsibility for the decisions to be made.
5. Become acquainted with your faculty advisor, foster a professional relationship.
